By far the most common paper on the market , the RC photo paper stands for resin - coated photo paper. When we speak of RC prints, we are mainly referring to the traditional , wet- processed, darkroom photo papers coated with resins that allowed for quick processing and drying times. Those prints were also more scuff and curl resistant.
But the term RC paper has carried over into today’s ink jet world , and they are produced from a refined wood pulp base encased in two layers of plastic polyethylene , then coated with a micro porous inkjet receptive emulsion. thus is called inkjet RC photo paper. RC papers are more water proof and scuff and scratch resistant than their matte paper counterparts, but are much thinner.
Our Resin coated photo paper normally comes in 4 finishes :
Glossy finish - has different levels of gloss and can be measured and scored for glossiness.
Satin finish - also known as semi gloss, has lower glare and provide the benefit of non reflective surface.
Pearl finish - a satin finish with a higher gloss and benefit of providing vibrant deep colors
Matte finish - has a lower reflection / glare than the glossy paper. Has small particles , very grainy.
